Austin City Council has given approval to file eminent domain proceedings and purchase the South Terminal at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport as part of the facility's expansion. It represents a significant escalation in a fight that has been simmering for about a year. Long-term expansion plans for ABIA call for the removal of the privately operated facility, which is south of the main terminal, to make way for new taxiways and a new midfield concourse.
