Best known among Palm Desert breakfast restaurants for their famous homemade pancakes, home style hamburgers and creamy real ice cream milkshakes, Keedy’s has become a mainstay for those living and passing through Southern California. Although this classic establishment has expanded its original menu to not only include American cuisine but also Mexican favorites, the feeling of nostalgia remains. It is not at all unusual to spot sports and Hollywood favorites adorning the walls of this unique historic landmark.
This desert jewel has only had 3 owners since its inception. Founder Bob Keedy retired in 1987 selling the establishment to local patrons Bob and Patty Downs who had spent years enjoying the authenticities of Keedy’s like the singing waitresses and Formica tables. In the summer of 1999, a gentleman named David Chapman purchased the diner promising to continue the traditions and reputation of the place with the “Old Fashioned Fountain”. Along the way, Keedy’s Fountain & Grill has been recognized as “Best Greasy Spoon”, “Best Place to Meet Your Lover” and “Best Breakfast House” in the Palm Springs Life Magazine.
