By: Get News
Dr. Daniel Allison, was featured in a recent TEDx Talk. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Orthopedic Oncologist Dr. Daniel C. Allison MD, FACS, is pleased to announce the release of the contents of his recent TEDx Talk (https://youtu.be/GjF68KBCF3I). In Dr. Allison’s TEDx talk, he discusses principles and how they are applied to the field of biomechanical engineering and reconstruction. Principles are important because they can be used when feeling confused, overwhelmed, or stuck. No matter how complicated or dangerous an injury is, Dr. Allison, by sticking to the principles of biomedical engineering, can help patients heal through his surgery. This is because circumstances change, but principles never change.

Dr. Allision uses principles beyond those in medicine, from mathematics to history, to craft innovative solutions for his patients. From a simple bone break to a complex boner cancer, sticking to his principles allowed Dr. Allison to help thousands of patients. His talk breaks down a wide-array of medical cases from Dr. Alison’s distinguished career. He demonstrates how sticking to his principles and innovative thinking led him to innovative solutions for people who previously had no hope of a full recovery. He ends his talking about how his principle for service and giving back led him to join the Naval Reserves, so he could serve those in the military with complex surgical needs.

Dr. Daniel C. Allison is an orthopedic oncology surgeon, specializing in the surgical treatment of tumors of the pelvis and musculoskeletal system as well as reconstruction of bones and joints after trauma or degenerative disease. He is currently an assistant professor of surgery and assistant director of orthopedic oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Associate Clinical Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Southern California, and Co-Director of Pediatric Orthopedic Oncology at Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA). He is also a Commander in the Medical Corps of the U.S. Navy Reserves.

Dr. Allison has published numerous peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters and has lectured internationally on the topic of surgical reconstruction. He is also a surgeon designer and has designed five different orthopedic implants for widespread surgical use.

In a recent interview, a spokesperson explained, “Daniel C. Allison MD, FACS, and his team base their treatment philosophy on caring for patients like family. If you have an advanced orthopedic condition, ranging from a bone or soft tissue tumor to a complex degenerative joint disorder to extensive skeletal trauma to a severe orthopedic complication, an experienced surgical team with training and expertise in advanced musculoskeletal reconstruction can make all the difference. Because of the relative rarity of these conditions, there are a limited number of surgeons like Dr. Allison in the country.”
