Help Refugees Congress Guide 10 Million To 1 Resettlement Campaign Launched

A new fundraising and letter-writing campaign has been launched to educate Congress about refugee resettlement issues. The goal of the campaign is to provide each member with a copy of the book, “10 Million to 1: Refugee Resettlement – A How To Guide” along with letters from their constituents expressing the importance of allowing refugees to come into the country.

More information can be found at: https://www.gofundme.com/acceptrefugees.

The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the refugee crisis and help people to understand that refugees make a difference to the country as a whole, to the communities that they settle in, and to the individuals who help them get started with a new life in the U.S.

At the forefront of the message is the fact that refugees are not terrorists, but they may well be fleeing from terrorists, or they might be victims of war. The core belief of the campaign is that no one should be prevented from trying to move their family to safety.

It is possible for the country to have strong vetting and still help the people who need it most, by helping them find a safe place to live for themselves and their family. June 20 is World Refugee Day, and this year it is especially important to consider those who have been displaced, because the crisis has been impacted by domestic U.S. political turmoil.

The “Go Fund Me” Page, created by Jeffrey Kirk, is an easy way for people all over the country to make an impact. Jeffrey has been helping refugees, along with his wife, since 2001, working with a group from his church.

The book, 10 Million to 1, was written based on Jeffrey’s experience while helping eight separate refugee families in about a 10 year period. It is specifically written for volunteers who want to help refugees to settle, and to help people to understand the process.

It goes through how refugees get to America, how to receive the refugees, and offers guidance on how to ensure they become self sufficient.
