Greenwood, IN, — VisionQuest Eyecare is excited to announce that Dr. Deanna Rankin will join their Greenwood practice later in 2023. Dr. Rankin’s passion for patient care and eye care, as well as her fresh perspective on modern technology, will make her a valuable addition to the practice as they further emphasize patient comfort and experience.
"It is so exciting to have Dr. Rankin join our practice in Greenwood,” said Christopher J. Browning, O.D., an optometrist at VisionQuest Eyecare. “She and I will work side by side to take care of some of our tougher medical cases.”
Dr. Rankin grew up in Greenwood and graduated from Greenwood High School. She completed her Bachelor of Arts degree with a minor in anthropology at Indiana University. She would then later go on to earn her Doctor of Optometry at Indiana University’s School of Optometry.
“The curriculum at the IU School of Optometry has evolved so much in the last two decades — I’m sure I will learn as much from her as she can from me,” said Dr. Browning. “We have been privileged to care for her and her family as a patients in our practice since she was very young. We’ve watched her with great enthusiasm, knowing she would accomplish great things. She’s joining our group at just the right time, as we have experienced quite a bit of growth in the last few years, and we are opening the new office to accommodate the new growth in patients, doctors and staff."
Dr. Rankin’s focus during her educational studies was primarily on ocular and ocular surface disease. However, she wanted to be able to deliver more robust and comprehensive patient care and experiences, which led her to expand her training to include pediatric care, (pre/post) operative ocular care, and ocular disease management.
During her travels, Dr. Rankin has lived in Cincinnati, OH; Fort Wayne, IN; and Manchester, NH. She eventually found her way back home to Greenwood in 2023 to pursue her passion for treating and managing glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, and dry eye disease for patients in her hometown.
“I’m happy to be back and to serve the community that helped me learn and grow into the person I am today,” said Dr. Rankin. “I’m also excited to do it alongside some of the best doctors in the field. VisionQuest has all the latest and greatest technology available, and I can’t wait to use it to bring patients the highest quality of ocular care. Forming personal relationships with the patients is also something that’s truly important to me, so I look forward to being a part of the team and bringing better vision to Greenwood.”
