NEW YORK - May 3, 2022 - (Newswire.com)

Celebrated film maven Julie Dash walked the 2022 Met Gala red carpet last night, the most prestigious eve of fashion, wearing Tess Sholom Designs. Dash and eight other elite filmmakers, including Sofia Coppola, Tom Ford, Regina King (a co-chair for the event) and Martin Scorsese, all dressed "transformational" themed rooms for an upcoming Metropolitan Museum of Art's exhibit opening May 7.

Yet as the world watched "fashion's biggest night" they saw a marvel of its own: Julie Dash wearing 'Circe's Circle,' by Tess Sholom - a show-stopping necklace featuring three faceted amethysts, 60 tcw, handset in ethically sourced, 22-karat gold circles. Dash proudly wore other Sholom one-of-a-kinds, since the designer embodies female empowerment inspired by ancient Greek history in her modern art jewelry.

David F. Zambrana, Manhattan-based Costume Designer and Fashion Stylist, agrees. "When approaching any project, fashioning a client's persona is as important as their fitting. Connecting theatric costuming and current style to an individual's essence is my mantra. Tess Sholom's 22-karat gold jewelry is a rare balance of ancient and modern wearable art, and an ideal dramatic accessory for Julie Dash at this event," Zambrana noted.

"In many ways, we're catching up to Tess," said Pam Levine of Levine Luxury Branding. "Decades of premier fashion designers have worked hand-in-hand with Tess; her designs are displayed at the Met, the City of New York Museum, and many other renowned art houses, including a special sale and exhibit at New York's Mahnaz Collection in mid-May. These events spark a world rediscovery for Tess Sholom, in progress."

Julie Dash made history with 'Daughters of the Dust,' the first feature film directed by a Black woman, gaining U.S. theatrical distribution in 1991. Dash also wrote and produced the movie about Black female equity and the ancestral circle of Gullah heritage. It won "Excellence in Cinematography - Dramatic" at its Sundance premiere with several other honors including the Boston Society of Film Critics' Awards in 2013.

Dash's Greek Revival period parlor is a "one-frame movie" of sorts. The room comes alive with beautiful strength and an intense passion of winning perseverance, blending ancient Greek elements with a nod to Helen of Troy.

"All of the rooms are connected by curatorial threads, but they're also connected through a cinematic lens," said Andrew Bolton, Head Curator of the Met's Art Consume Institute. "Every director has put their own imprimatur on each of them."

Coming full circle, Tess Sholom speaks to the necklace everyone is talking about. "In Greek mythology, Circe was a magical enchantress, and there's magic in gold jewelry too. Amethysts are a highly transformable crystal, thought to change chaos to harmony and challenges to victories. What an honor for 'Circe's Circle' to be worn by Julie Dash, who herself emulates these very characteristics," said Tess Sholom. www.TessSholomDesigns.com @tesssholomdesigns
