To help clients receive prompt access to medical diagnostics in Boston, UK, the Open MRI clinic has launched a new self-referral program with fast results, which can take as little as 24 hours.

While diagnostic scans are known for causing a slowdown in treatment times, due to often being booked several weeks or months into the future, this new program does not use a waiting list at all. Clients can schedule their own appointments without a referral from their GP, and receive their results as early as the next day.
The Open MRI clinic works only with UK Certified Harley Street Specialist Musculoskeletal Consultant Radiologists and does not use reporting Radiographers. Clients will receive the results of their scans as digital images, and in a Consultant Radiologist Report.
By partnering with MSK Doctors, a musculoskeletal specialist clinic, Open MRI can provide referrals at a preferred rate, as well as fast access to some of the UK’s top specialists. Clients may also choose to go over their results slide-by-slide, either in-person or virtually, with Open MRI’s in-house Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.
The clinic offers a pre-scan consultation process that can help clients determine which body part, or parts, needs to be scanned for their particular injury. Clients who already have some knowledge of their injury, and know which body part needs to be scanned, can book their appointments directly online.
The clinic also offers dynamic MRI scans, which are not available anywhere else in the county. Sometimes called “movement” MRIs, this procedure takes up to 90 minutes per scan, but can capture images of a joint while it is in motion. While this type of imaging is not required for all diagnostic scans, it can help to provide more information about certain injuries.
The Open MRI website explains, “There is no need for a GP or medical consultant referral. You can easily refer yourself for an MRI scan via our online system. If you know what you want, simply tell us about which part of the body you want scanned, answer some safety questions and book online for the time and date that works for you.”
