Pioneer Landscape Centers Launches Service to Help Customers Increase Productivity and Cost Savings

Pioneer Landscape Centers, a regional retailer and quarry operator with outlets throughout Colorado and Arizona, has launched a materials placement service that will help landscapers and others tackle labor shortages and achieve cost savings on landscaping work. The service provides delivery and placement of soil, mulch or rock via a blower truck that can place materials as far as 300 feet away via a large hose.

Using this service, contractors needing placement of bulk landscaping materials have been saving 30% or more off the cost of placing materials using conventional labor. The blower trucks are faster than most crews, too. Each truck has the capacity to place as much as 60 yards of material per hour in comparison to an individual’s (4-6 yards) or a team of three’s (12 to 18 yards) placement.

“We see our contractors struggling with labor shortages all the time. This service will help them keep up with their jobs and save money, too,” said Ben Powell, vice president of procurement and commercial sales for Pioneer.

Pioneer is offering the service to contractors needing to place large volumes of material. That means the service is ideal for landscape contractors and construction professionals as well as school districts or municipalities trying to keep up with their mulch and soil needs. Pioneer also anticipates the service being used by transportation crews who need to get soil onto embankments for seeding projects.

Builders constructing green-roofed structures may be interested in the service, too. The blower trucks can place growing medium atop multi-story structures. Along with blowing the material into the space that needs filling, Pioneer’s team handles clean-up. Drive teams sweep and hand blow any materials that have made it onto sidewalks or drives into rock beds and other unintended areas.
