It has been said that Tangerine Time Machine's website was retrieved from an old floppy disk that was, until recently, stored in a time capsule.
Tangerine Time Machine is an original rock power trio, featuring electrifying riffs, powerful grooves, and catchy melodies. When asked about their influences they will tell you that a lot of them come from music of both the future and the past. August 2nd has been dubbed "Tangerine Time Machine Day" and marks the annum since their arrival in the modern-day music scene. Part of their goal for this day has been to give people something more to look at on the web.
Their website has been modernized a bit to meet today's standards, but still looks like something of the past, with ascii-based art and photos of the band [back in the heyday of the internet, even photos were a luxury], and an 80s game-style time vortex flying along in the background.
The band has plans to make a more visually stimulating website for the modern era, with bold colors and designs to represent the band's vibe. This update will run in tandem with the old website and allow visitors to "time travel" and have completely different web experiences. When asked about the old website and time traveling, Jason (guitar) commented, "Well, anyone who would have helped us administrating things back then is either retired now or too expensive [laughs]. Yeah, we are very DIY here — at least right now."
In a year's time of the band being in today's scene, Tangerine Time Machine has already received plenty of grass-root supporters who proudly wear their t-shirts, displaying the band's emoji-styled emblem. The band has opened up for Michigan's own Sponge, selling out of their share of tickets, as well as providing a similar draw to other shows around.
Tangerine Time Machine's music is very dynamic, many songs are upbeat with guitar riffs that get stuck in your head and will have you singing them all day, while some other songs are more mellow or even bluesier. But no matter what you hear from them, the band plays with a lot of heart and is high energy! At times people have compared the band's style to Rival Sons, Led Zeppelin, The Who, Greta Van Fleet, Def Leppard, and others. Despite that, the band also has a strong 90s connection that influences them as well.
The band is playing in Battle Creek on September 8th for Loud Fest, an all-ages, event, and is currently participating in The Opening Act's (formerly Radio.com) contest, asking all their supporters to keep the Time Machine rolling through at every stage.
