The Intake Breathing System helps users achieve their best physical performance, recovery, and sleep.
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - May 28, 2019 - PRLog -- Intake Breathing, a friend-and-family owned company based in Santa Barbara, is launching the world's first magnetic nasal dilator. The Intake Sport Kit, which launched on Kickstarter on May 28, 2019 is a two-part system that helps keep nasal passages open at their widest capacity, allowing users to increase their oxygen uptake and blood flow simply by breathing cyclically through the nose. Intake's first generation product has already gained significant traction in cycling and road sports, where goggles and faceplates often close nasal passages and force athletes to breathe through their mouth, hindering endurance and stamina. Now, the company is raising funds to help make this technology affordable and adaptable to everyone.

There is significant evidence that nasal breathing can improve athletic performance and overall health, and Intake is breaking ground as the first company to truly address this as-of-yet uncharted corner of the athletic space.

"The science we're motivated by is pretty compelling," says Intake CEO Alex Hauck. "We'd seen so many studies that show how breathing through your nose, rather than your mouth, can give you a natural competitive edge unlike anything else, and we want to see how we can utilize that to optimize performance."

Hauck is referring to research that shows nasal breathing to create a beneficial domino effect in the body, regulating blood pH, boosting healthy lymphatic flow, and increasing the production of nitric oxide, which helps increase blood flow and protect organs and muscles from damage. Mouth breathing, on the other hand, has been shown to actively hinder these processes, and can even affect cognitive functions like short term memory formation and recall.

"It's been incredibly encouraging to see these benefits play out real time with our users coming back and telling us what a huge difference this has made for them," Hauck says. "It's fun to share with the world a product like this that actually works. We're fed up with the constant marketing for gimmicky products and different colored gadgets. We've been working hard in the background to make sure we really have something new and exciting to offer."

Intake is hoping to raise enough funding via Kickstarter to bring the Intake Sport Kit to more users. The company is also hoping to create a sleep-specific system in response to users who have cited significant improvement in the quality and duration of their sleep while wearing the Intake Band. They have already been granted six patents and have nine additional patents pending.
