Program Addresses Teen Mental Health and Online Safety Issues
MILLBURN, N.J. - Sept. 27, 2018 - PRLog -- The DIG Program for digital citizenship, an e-learning platform that helps students develop good habits to be safe, smart and healthy online continues to gain momentum with schools and parents.  The Program addresses teen mental health and online safety issues caused by near-constant phone and apps usage.

The Program, which launched in June, has now run trials with ten secondary schools.  A Parents version of the Program that lets them sign up their children ages 10 and above has also begun to see traction.

The DIG Program, which stands for Digital Individual Guidelines, can be thought of as Driver's Ed for the digital superhighway.  It is based on the 30 years of extensive research and teaching experience of its creator, Shari Stein.

The Program is a turnkey e-learning solution that is easy, efficient and economical for schools to administer.  At launch, The DIG Program had Middle School, High School and College versions, with content nuanced for the appropriate age groups.

Schools and parents can keep students more attentive, engaged and learning as they prepare for the next level.  Upon completing the Program, students receive a certificate and a DIG Score, which assesses their digital citizenship competencies and is updated based on their replies to ongoing questionnaires.

"Student depression, anxiety, and suicide rates are all on the rise.  Teens and preteens spend excessive time on their devices, with many engaging in detrimental and dangerous behaviors such as bullying, sexting, ranting and ghosting that are negatively impacting their mental health, online safety and productivity at school.  It's become a crisis," said Shari Stein, Founder & CEO of the DIG Program.

"We believe our e-learning platform teaches students how to be safe, smart and healthy in all of their online activities.  In the process, we help them develop the competencies required for the digital economy to advance their careers in school and beyond.  Schools deploying The DIG Program can assure parents and boards that they are achieving their objectives, including media literacy."
