Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year Phil Vassar Coming to Northeast Florida

By: PRLog
ORANGE PARK, Fla. - March 1, 2016 - PRLog -- It’s “Just Another Day in Paradise” at Thrasher-Horne Center for award-winning country music singer/songwriter Phil Vassar with special guest Russell Dickerson in concert on Saturday, May 7 at 8 PM.

Vassar’s career has seen the release of eight albums, two ASCAP Songwriter of the Year trophies, Billboard Country Songwriter of the Year and countless hits as a singer and songwriter. He has hit the Top 5 seven times with songs like “Carlene,” “Last Day of My Life” and “American Child” and topped the charts with “In A Real Love” and the perennial favorite “Just Another Day in Paradise.” Known as one of Nashville’s top tunesmiths, his songs other artists have taken to #1 include “My Next Thirty Years” by Tim McGraw, “She’s Right On The Money” by Alan Jackson, and Jo Dee Messina’s “Bye, Bye” and “I’m Alright.” New artist David Nail had a hit with Vassar’s “The Sound of a Million Dreams,” which Billboard named the #1 song in their Top 10 Country Songs of 2012. No stranger to television, Phil was also nominated for an Emmy Award in the "Outstanding Original Song" category for his composition "Live For Today," which was performed and produced for a recurring series on NBC's Today Show.

For Vassar, his philosophy about songs has never changed during his time spent writing hits for himself and other artists, it’s important for a song to carry a message and make the listener feel something. “I’ve always prided myself on writing a lot of different types of songs. While some people may like to play it safe, I prefer diversity. So it’s about new energy and doing different things, getting away from the old ways and starting fresh.”

Appearing with Vassar is special guest Russell Dickerson. Dickerson’s first single, "Green Light," remained on Sirius XM: The Highway's "Hot 30 Live" for seven weeks straight as an independent artist.

“Performing is on my mind most of any given day,” said Dickerson. “It is what I envision when I am writing, it is what I dream about at night, it is what I want to be doing day in and day out. There is nothing greater than watching fans sing along to the songs that tell their stories and mine.”

Tickets for Phil Vassar with special guest Russell Dickerson are now available to Thrasher-Horne Members. General public tickets will be on sale starting Monday, March 7 at 10 AM. Ticket prices range from $19 to $39.

The Thrasher-Horne Center is a not-for-profit performing arts venue and conference center owned and operated by St. Johns River State College. It is located on the Orange Park campus at 283 College Drive in Orange Park, Florida. Tickets and more information are available at (904) 276-6815 or online at THcenter.org.
