Science Parody of One Direction's New Music Video

By: PRLog
LOS ANGELES - Aug. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- One week ago, One Direction released a new music video on YouTube's VEVO for their song "Drag Me Down" -- their first video sans Zayn Malik who left the band earlier this year. In just seven days, the astronaut-themed video has already garnered over 27 million views.

Rising YouTube star Jessie Hendricks, who hosts and produces for the channel Everyday Science (http://www.youtube.com/everydaysciencetv), released her own version of the song this week -- with a twist. The song is called "Speed of Sound" and is a Parody version of the One Direction hit. Hendricks, who has worked as a producer with companies ranging from NASA and NOAA to museums and aquaria as well as University Professors and Academy Award-winning producers, is an actress in Los Angeles who started her channel as a response to the growing demand for social media in entertainment.

Hendricks tells us: "[Actors] are under more and more pressure to bring a fanbase to studio projects, so casting directors are encouraging us to be more active in social media to build an audience following...I'm still finding my own voice in the world of new media, but I'm passionate about science and learning, so for me [Everyday Science] has been a good start."

"Speed of Sound" is Hendricks' first video in her Science Parody Songs! Playlist, and aims to incite an interest in science amongst teenage girls using an accessible and familiar medium (music videos) and platform (YouTube).
