Dr. Jason Brinton From Brinton Vision Talks About The EVO ICL Procedure On Show Me St. Louis

St. Louis, Missouri -

Dr. Jason Brinton from Brinton Vision, a St. Louis laser vision correction clinic, recently interviewed with Show Me St. Louis, St. Louis’ oldest live lifestyle show that currently airs weekdays at 10 AM on KSDK.

During the interview, Dr. Jason Brinton talked about EVO ICL, a new FDA-approved vision correction procedure that Brinton Vision is offering to St. Louis patients. The procedure is designed for people who have poor or blurry distance vision and want to get rid of their glasses or contact lenses. Brinton Vision is among the first vision correction clinics in the country to offer the EVO ICL procedure and the first of its kind in St. Louis. The St. Louis ophthalmology clinic is offering the procedure in a close partnership with STAAR® Surgical, the country’s leading developer, manufacturer, and marketer of implantable lenses.

EVO ICL is a safe and effective alternative to LASIK that has been offered worldwide for decades, since 1993, and more than half a million people in over 60 countries have already benefitted from it. However, it wasn’t made available in the United States for all these years due to the time it takes for a medical procedure to gain FDA approval. EVO ICL received FDA approval on March 28, 2022, and, just a few weeks later, Dr. Jason Brinton gained the distinction of being the first person in Missouri and the second person in the United States to perform the procedure. The first patient Dr. Brinton operated on was a fellow vision correction surgeon from Portland, Oregon, Dr. Steven Tersigni.

The EVO ICL procedure uses implantable Collamer lenses, the next generation in lens technology. During the procedure, which takes only 15 minutes, no corneal tissue is removed. Each lens is inserted behind the iris and in front of the natural internal lens through a tiny self-sealing incision. The patient’s vision is significantly improved immediately after surgery. Patients can resume their normal daily schedule the day after the surgery. The EVO implantable Collamer lenses contain an ultraviolet blocker that protects the eyes from harmful UV rays. The lenses are engineered to sync with the body’s chemistry and do not wear off, change, or degrade over time.

During the interview with Show Me St. Louis, Dr. Brinton shared an anecdote about the effectiveness of the EVO ICL procedure by saying, “We also had a local St. Louis area eye doctor who sells glasses and contacts who brought about a dozen of his eye doctor friends to watch him have ICL performed. After his procedure, the eye doctors wanted to visualize his lenses, so we took him into our first exam lane here and one of the doctors made the bold decision to flip the switch and turn on our eye chart and put him on the spot, so no pressure, right? Less than 60 seconds after the eye surgery, all of your eye doctors are there, let’s see how you can perform, right? Well to our amazement, he rattled off the 20/20 line and he read 20/20 less than 60 seconds after his procedure. Where just minutes before, he had been 20/200, which means that he could barely see the wall in front of his face.”

Brinton Vision is a St. Louis ophthalmology practice that specializes in offering LASIK and its six modern variations namely SMILE, EVO ICL, Light Adjustable Lens (LAL), PRK, KAMRA Inlay, and refractive lens exchange (RLE), a cataract surgery alternative. The clinic is rated an A+ from the Better Business Bureau and it boasts a perfect 5.0 out of 5.0 rating on its Google My Business page from almost 1000 reviews.
