Southern Copper Corporation (SCC) announces that yesterday three of its mining units, Cananea, Taxco and San Martín, suspended operations due to work stoppages organized by a minority of workers. The Company considers that the referred stoppages are illegal, based upon several procedural shortcomings. SCC has asked the competent authorities to promptly declare as illegal the purported strikes.
Pursuant to the requirements of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, the Registrant has duly caused this report to be signed on its behalf by the undersigned thereunto duly authorized.
