However, what has become apparent is the insatiable appetite by our clients wanting to buy gold and gold jewellery. This trend emerged early in 2022, has only gained in momentum since then and there are no signs of this abating.”
The observation of Paddington Jewellers is in line with what The World Gold Council reported in January that 2022 was the strongest year for gold demand in over a decade.
Annual gold demand (excluding OTC) jumped 18% to 4,741t, almost on a par with 2011 - a time of exceptional investment demand. The strong full-year total was aided by record Q4 demand of 1,337t that they noted was also fuelled by high retail demand.
