Weruche Inspires International has held its annual Women of Impact award ceremony to honor outstanding women who have shown resilience and strength and have continued to serve the community consistently.
The world is changing every day, and with that the way women are being viewed for their contributions is also changing. We have witnessed an increase in women taking up diverse roles, ranging from political and administrative to scientific leadership. Appreciating womanhood with a woman at the helm of affairs has become pertinent.
Women of Impact Awards 2023 – was celebrated on International Women's Day, March 8th. Weruche Inspires International - headquartered in Connecticut, USA with sister organizations in London, UK, and Africa - organized this to acknowledge everyday women's achievements and to honor them. This recognition takes place annually in March, in honor of Women's History Month.
The Women of Impact Awards celebrates women who are breaking down barriers in their respective spheres of influence. In addition, the event intends to build up and encourage women who have not been given their proper recognition to rise and own their appropriate spheres of influence unapologetically.
Since the year 2020, WIIN Awards has been dedicated to providing a platform that promotes engagement among women and the community at large, leading the way in promoting female empowerment while igniting the spirit of sisterhood.
As an art and culture, charitable, and educational non-profit organization, WIIN, founded in 2015 by writer and former asylee Weruche Uzoka George, has worked tirelessly to empower underrepresented communities, women, and girls. Through its programs, WIIN seeks to inspire a new generation of women leaders, artists, and creators who will positively impact their communities and the world at large.
"I felt the time has come to recognize everyday women doing amazing work. Some of the women we have awarded are not popular but have spent many years working hard in their communities. It is important to let them know that our organization sees them and that we are thankful for their work and dedication," said the founder Weruche.
The Women of Impact Awards 2020-23 defined exceptional women from Nky Iweka and Michele Zommer to Fereshteh Ganjavi through their respective fields and honored them for their achievements. The winners have worked hard to make a positive impact on society. With a commitment to shine a spotlight on women for their excellence, dedication, and work in the community, Weruche Inspires International’s vision is to empower, inspire, uplift, and change the narrative about women by recognizing their accomplishments in all walks of life.
