The ownership of Texas Elite Auto & Diesel reported this week that their facility is certified to handle issues tied to the latest recall announcement made by General Motors.
Pertaining specifically to Chevrolet Silverados and GMC Sierras made between 2017 and 2019, the recall covers more than 331,000 diesel pickup trucks in the United States. Issues center around engine block heater cords in pickup trucks with 6.6-liter diesel engines and optional engine block heaters.
“We encourage anyone who drives any of the pickup truck models that are being recalled by GM to stop in and let us assess your situation for you,” says Addam Bradshaw, owner of Texas Elite Auto & Diesel of San Antonio. “It’s definitely better to err on the side of caution when it comes to situations like this that could have disastrous repercussions to you and your family if not addressed.”
GM announced that it’s received reports of at least two dozen fires that were potentially caused by engine block heater cords between late 2019 and May of 2021 and that owners of the vehicles in question will begin receiving notification letters in a few weeks.
The company further announced that shorts can develop in heater cords or terminals that connect the cables to the block heaters. Leaking coolant from the block heater could then come in contact with the cable terminals and pose a risk of fire.
“Our technicians at Texas Elite Auto & Diesel are highly trained and work every day specifically on diesel powered engines,” says Bradshaw. “We welcome anyone who owns a vehicle included in this latest recall to stop by our facility for more information. Or give us a call at 210-519-0033 and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you may have about this recall or any other diesel related issues.”
