Longacre Square Partners Expands North American Presence with Appointment of Amy Freedman as Partner, Head of Canada

Longacre Square Partners, a full-service consultancy that advises clients on corporate relations, crisis management, and contested and special situations, today announced that it has expanded its North American presence through the appointment of Amy Freedman as Partner, Head of Canada. Ms. Freedman, who has served as a member of Longacre’s Advisory Board since 2023, has extensive experience as a C-level executive, public company director, strategic advisor and investment banker. Based in Toronto, Ms. Freedman will focus on advising issuers and investors on the public and private elements of shareholder activism campaigns, corporate governance changes, complex transactions and other material events.

By appointing Ms. Freedman, Longacre bolsters its senior partnership and Canadian presence. The firm’s integrated communications, governance advisory and shareholder engagement capabilities enabled it to successfully support numerous transformational matters in Canada during 2024, including most recently Engine Capital LP’s successful contest to replace the entire board of directors at Dye & Durham Ltd.

Greg Marose and Dan Zacchei, managing partners of Longacre, commented:

“Amy is a force when it comes to guiding clients to value-enhancing outcomes – particularly in contested and special situations. Her varied experience, insight and dedication to clients make her an ideal addition to Longacre’s partnership. As we continue building a differentiated advisory firm with the reach and expertise clients need to win, Amy will play a key role in accelerating our evolution and success.”

Ms. Freedman added:

“Longacre has established itself as a premier strategic advisor on critical boardroom matters, and I am thrilled to be joining the firm. Having personally been in both the investor and director seats, I recognize the need for the type of full-service, senior-led counsel Longacre offers to its diverse range of clients. I look forward to helping the firm continue to capitalize on the significant growth opportunities ahead of it.”

In 2024, Longacre was ranked the top investor relations and public relations advisor by Bloomberg LP’s Global Shareholder Activism Review with more than 125 total representations. This was the third consecutive year that the firm achieved this ranking based on its total number of representations across global geographies. Over the past year, the firm also advised on scores of successful corporate transactions, debt restructurings, management transitions and litigation matters.
