Black Hat USA 2024 Announces Startup Spotlight Competition Finalists

DryRun Security, Knostic, LeakSignal, and RAD Security named as the four finalists

Black Hat, the cybersecurity industry’s most established and in-depth security event series, today announced the four finalists of the Black Hat USA 2024 Startup Spotlight Competition. The Black Hat Startup Spotlight Competition is a pitch competition for cybersecurity startup companies to present their products and solutions in front of a live audience at Black Hat USA, taking place August 3 to August 8 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

This year, the finalists will present during the inaugural Innovators & Investors Summit on Tuesday, August 6. At the conclusion of this Summit, the winner of the Black Hat USA 2024 Startup Spotlight Competition will be announced. The winner of the Black Hat USA 2023 Startup Spotlight Competition, Mobb, will present this year’s winner with the award.

To enter the competition, each finalist submitted a 5-minute video detailing their respective company’s competitive advantages for their product or solution, as well as shared how their product can help cybersecurity professionals.

The four finalists for Black Hat USA 2024 include:

  • DryRun Security: DryRun Security delivers near-instant security code reviews and works as if you have just hired a team of the best application security (AppSec) code reviewers. DryRun Security’s platform gathers security context from over a dozen different code analyzers that run in just seconds after a developer makes a change.
  • Knostic: Knostic provides need-to-know based access controls for large language models (LLMs). Knostic’s platform enables enterprises to securely roll out LLM-powered enterprise search and LLM-based agents, and when customers roll out LLM-powered Enterprise Search tools, Knostic captures and enforces the need-to-know of each individual to avoid the risks associated with unauthorized access to sensitive information and to prevent organizational harm.
  • LeakSignal: LeakSignal empowers organizations with unparalleled protection against sensitive data leakage through real-time, in-transit data classification. LeakSignal’s platform offers a cutting-edge, openly distributed solution for organizations seeking to enhance data security and governance across their infrastructures.
  • RAD Security: RAD Security is a behavioral cloud detection and response solution, enabling security teams to respond earlier using behavioral runtime verification. Unlike legacy approaches such as one-size-fits-all cloud workload protection platform (CWPP) and container detection solutions reliant on signatures, RAD takes a custom, behavioral approach that can counter evolving threats while sharpening inputs into shift-left and posture management.

Each finalist will receive one turnkey startup booth at Black Hat USA 2024, one 20-minute speaking session in the Startup City Theater, and one 30-minute call with an Omdia cybersecurity analyst.
