California Lt. Gov. Eleni Kounalakis to join FLUX, Unique Women’s Coalition, and Human Rights Campaign to announce Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center designation
The Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center (CONOTEC), a facility providing comprehensive resources, training, support, and medical services for Transgender people living in Los Angeles, will serve as an officially designated Los Angeles County Vote Center for the upcoming March 5th California primary as well as for the November 2024 general/presidential election.
CONOTEC is the first Transgender facility nationwide to serve as an official election Vote Center. It will be open to all Los Angeles County voters from March 2nd through March 5th but will have a particular emphasis on serving as a safe and empowering place for Trans, Non-Binary, and other LGBTQA+ individuals and their allies who have been under increasing verbal, political and physical attack across the country to vote. This designation comes as the TGI community mourns the tragic death of non-binary teen Nex Benedict in Oklahoma. CONOTEC is reaching out to the Trans and Non-Binary communities county-wide to welcome them to vote at CONOTEC.

FLUX, an affinity group of AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) dedicated to creating safe spaces for Trans and Gender Non-Conforming individuals through advocacy and outreach, partnered with the Unique Woman’s Coalition (UWC), an organization centering the narratives and needs of Black Trans culture, and HRC, the nation’s largest LGBTQ+ political and advocacy organization, in efforts to have the Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center designated an official Los Angeles County Vote Center.
The Connie Norman Trans Empowerment Center is named in honor of Connie Norman, known as the ‘AIDS Diva,’ a fearless Transgender and AIDS activist who died of the disease in 1996. It opened on September 10, 2021.
