Paul Napoli, a partner at Napoli Shkolnik, has been named one of the 2024 Law360 Environmental MVPs, recognizing his exceptional contributions to environmental litigation. This prestigious accolade highlights Napoli's successful negotiations in the ongoing multi-district litigation (MDL) over the contamination of drinking water with toxic per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) resulting from the widespread use of aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF).
As Plaintiffs’ Co-Lead Counsel in the MDL, Paul has been instrumental in the $15+ billion in settlements that are expected to provide compensation to Public Water Systems across the country that are grappling with PFAS, commonly referred to as ‘forever chemicals’, contamination in their drinking water supplies.

Napoli’s commitment to advocating for communities affected by pollution has only grown as public awareness of environmental issues has increased. Recently the NYU Law Environmental Justice Laboratory (EJL) was established through a generous gift from Paul and his wife Marie. Partnering with affected communities, the EJL seeks to dismantle long-standing environmental racism and build a fair, decarbonized world.
