FLUX, UWC and Equality California Host County & City Officials for Voter Education Townhall

TONIGHT: Thursday, October 3rd, 2024, 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

The Connie Norman Transgender Empowerment Center (CONOTEC), the Community Center for Transgender people in Los Angeles, will host Community Leaders, Policy & Legislative experts and LA County & City Officials in the second in its series of Town Halls on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024 at the CONOTEC facility in Los Angeles.

FLUX, a national division of AIDS Healthcare Foundation, raising the profile for trans and gender non-conforming individuals; the Unique Women’s Coalition (UWC), and Equality California (EQCA) present the ballot propositions & measures put before voters this election season, with legal experts and Civic officials to answer questions. FLUX International President, Queen Victoria Ortega says, “The Trans & NonBinary Community is taking its seat at the table, and we are taking the time and space to be an informed and prepared voter base.”

FLUX’s International Vice President, Queen Chela DeMuir said, “Recent reports have shown that 75% of the Trans community votes, compared to 67% of the eligible US voters. Our community is better informed, and more than three quarters of respondents to the 2022 Transgender Survey were engaged in at least one civic or political activity, with 28% contacting government officials, 26% attending a political protest or rally and 10% serving on a committee for a civic, non-profit or community organization. We step up and we show up.1

The Townhall format will allow for questions and discussion on the 10 California & LA County ballot propostions and measures, followed by a reception for program participants, organizational partners, and LGBTQ+ county officials after the formal programming ends.
