In observance of life of Martin Zavacký, who recently passed away, friends and former colleagues – Esmark Inc. Chairman & CEO James P. Bouchard and Martina Roda – made a personal donation of $5,000 to the Zavacký family to support funeral expenses.
Zavacký was first and foremost a family man, with a great sense of humor, unmatched work ethic and personal ethics. He was also a successful steel executive. Most recently, he was head sales manager in the department of General Manager Industrial Sales at U.S. Steel Kosice, a subsidiary of U.S. Steel, in Slovakia, where he worked closely with Bouchard and Roda in the 1990s.
“We are devastated to hear about the passing of our beloved friend and colleague,” said Bouchard. “Martin possessed a plethora of superior personal qualities, it was impossible to find any fault. He was an exemplary human being who was loved and cherished by all.”
“Martin always had a humble approach to his work, and he played a crucial role within our department,” said Roda. “He always made sure that things ran smoothly and without disruptions. We mourn with his family and miss him already.”
Bouchard is a former U.S. Steel vice president and statutory representative of the Slovak Republic, transforming Slovakian National Steel Co. – now known as U.S. Steel Kosice – in Slovakia after U.S. Steel acquired it. Roda is the former executive assistant to Bouchard at U.S. Steel.
