DESCRIPTION:

OVERLAND PARK, Kan., May 10, 2022 /3BL Media/ – Black & Veatch proudly announces mechanical engineer technician Brittany Kallenberger has been accepted to the Society of American Military Engineers’ (SAME) inaugural national leader development program (LDP) for innovative problem solvers. The program, financially supported by the SAME Foundation, provides vital training to 20 creative mid-career SAME members to develop them as the next generation of military, government, and industry leaders.

Kallenberger began with Black & Veatch as a high-school and later, college intern before joining the company’s federal services business full time. With five years of experience in the architecture, engineering, and construction (A/E/C) space, Kallenberger was chosen from a field of 45 national applicants for a yearlong program dedicated to supporting SAME’s mission and strategic direction.

“I’m incredibly honored to be accepted into the 2022-23 SAME Leader Development Program, and I’m looking forward to developing and improving my leadership skills as well as getting to know other SAME members and leaders in the process,” Kallenberger said.

In her current role, Kallenberger has served as the lead mechanical technician on numerous federal projects that are managed for U.S. Army Corp of Engineers (USACE) and other Department of Defense agencies. As a project mechanical technician lead, her responsibilities include managing project work for her team, offering technical guidance for the design layout of HVAC, mechanical, plumbing and fire protection systems, and modeling performance of these systems. She also helps organize and run training sessions for her group on best practices, software, standards, and other technical items specific to her discipline.

Randy Castro, president of Black & Veatch’s Special Projects Corp. and Kallenberger’s sponsor in the SAME initiative, said “Brittany is a perfect candidate for this professional development program. Her drive, ability to lift others up around her, and bring problem solving skills to go farther inspires other young professionals alike,” added Castro, who before joining Black & Veatch in mid-2018 served for more than three decades with the USACE.

  • Brittany graduated from University of Central Missouri with a double bachelor’s degree in Design Drafting Technology and Engineering Technology.
