JEFFERSON CITY, MO - On Tuesday, April 9, at noon, the Missouri Chamber of
Commerce and Associated Industries of Missouri (AIM) will sponsor a program
showcasing satellite-delivered digital television and high-speed Internet
access. Dan Mehan, president and CEO of the Missouri Chamber of Commerce, and
Jim Kistler, interim president of AIM, will host the demonstration, which will
explain how the PROPOSED MERGER between EchoStar Communications Corporation and
Hughes Electronics' DIRECTV will make LOCAL TV CHANNELS available to EVERY
RESIDENT in Missouri.

Officials of EchoStar Communications and Hughes Electronics will speak at the
event. Brian Olson, executive producer for EchoStar Communications, and George
H. Jamison, corporate vice president of Hughes Electronics, will comment on the
proposed merger and its role in eliminating the "digital divide" between urban
and rural Missouri.

Attendees will be able to surf the Internet, delivered via satellite, following
the demonstration.
